Standing long jump
Standing long jump is a speed discipline in BYOH, trained with bodyweight and building quickness and legs. Its ladder runs from 1.00 m or more at Level 1 to 3.00 m or more at Level 9, and Level 10 is the world record.
The ten levels
BYOH measures a discipline in ten cleared levels. Level 9 is a genuine feat; Level 10 is the standing world record, which is there to be looked at rather than reached.
Standing long jump starts at Level 1 with 1.00 m or more. Level 5 asks for 1.95 m or more, and Level 9 - the last level a person can train towards - 3.00 m or more. The largest single jump is from Level 1 to Level 2, 1.00 m or more to 1.30 m or more.

The record past Level 9

Standing from both feet, no run-up - the same attempt a hero makes, a metre and a half further. Both records have stood for over forty years. Source.
How it is done
- Stand with both toes behind a line on a surface that will not slip.
- Swing the arms and jump forward off both feet together.
- Measure from the line to the nearest mark you leave behind you.
How the attempt is judged
A level only means something if two heroes clearing it have done the same thing. These are the rules BYOH counts an attempt by — they are the rules of a game, not coaching.
- What counts as one
- One jump, measured from the take-off line to the nearest mark any part of you leaves on landing.
- The set
- Three attempts, of which the best counts. Each is a standing jump from both feet.
- What you need
- A flat, level, non-slip surface with a marked line and room to land. A run-up is not allowed and the surface may not slope away from you.
- What ends it
- Stepping over the line, taking off from one foot, or putting a hand down behind you on landing voids that attempt.
What it builds
Standing long jump feeds Quickness and Legs in a hero’s record, working glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps.
- Acceleration
- Glutes
- Hamstrings
- Quadriceps
- Calves
- Coordination & balance
Standing long jump is one of 4 speed disciplines. It is the only speed discipline in BYOH trained with bodyweight. Quickness is also built by 100 m sprint, 200 m sprint, 400 m run and 4 more, and a broad attribute needs several of them rather than one taken far.

BYOH turns these levels into a hero: what you clear becomes attributes, quests and a character that grows with your training. It is free, and in open alpha.
