Mountain climbers
Mountain climbers is a endurance discipline in BYOH, trained with bodyweight and building stamina and core. Its ladder runs from 10 reps at Level 1 to 600+ reps at Level 9, and Level 10 is the world record.
The ten levels
BYOH measures a discipline in ten cleared levels. Level 9 is a genuine feat; Level 10 is the standing world record, which is there to be looked at rather than reached.
Mountain climbers starts at Level 1 with 10 reps. Level 5 asks for 105 reps, and Level 9 - the last level a person can train towards - 600+ reps. The largest single jump is from Level 8 to Level 9, 380 reps to 600+ reps.

The record past Level 9
Mountain climbers — Provisional legend benchmark.
BYOH uses a provisional final gate until a comparable governed record format is selected. This is a provisional benchmark rather than a governed record.
How it is done
- Begin in a pushup position, with your weight supported by your hands and toes. Flexing the knee and hip, bring one leg until the knee is approximately under the hip. This will be your starting position.
- Explosively reverse the positions of your legs, extending the bent leg until the leg is straight and supported by the toe, and bringing the other foot up with the hip and knee flexed. Repeat in an alternating fashion for 20-30 seconds.

How the attempt is judged
A level only means something if two heroes clearing it have done the same thing. These are the rules BYOH counts an attempt by — they are the rules of a game, not coaching.
- What counts as one
- One repetition is one knee driven to under the chest and returned. Left and right together make one repetition.
- The set
- One unbroken set. You may pause in the supported position for as long as you like; the set ends the moment you leave it.
- What you need
- A high plank with hands under the shoulders. The supported position is the plank.
- What ends it
- A knee or hip touching the floor ends the set.
What it builds
Mountain climbers feeds Stamina and Core in a hero’s record, working quadriceps, chest, hamstrings, shoulders.
- Whole-body work capacity
- Interval capacity
- Anterior bracing
- Coordination & balance
Mountain climbers is one of 7 endurance disciplines. It shares its bodyweight requirement with 1 other endurance discipline. Stamina is also built by rope jumping, burpees, 1 km run and 3 more, and a broad attribute needs several of them rather than one taken far.
